Search for a Nurse is an online tool that provides information to the public and employers about nurses in Newfoundland and Labrador. This easy-to-use tool allows you to verify if:

  • a person providing nursing services is registered with the NL College of Nurses,
  • a nurse has additional specialization authorized by the College (for example: RN prescriber, NP authorization to prescribe Suboxone or Methadone),
  • a nurse has conditions or restrictions on their practice,
  • a nurse has a discipline history.
How to Search for a Nurse

This search only includes Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Registered Psychiatric Nurses. To search for a Licensed Practical Nurse, visit the LPN search page.

You can search for a nurse using their first or last name.

The College publishes names exactly as they appear on a nurse’s official ID. Employers are reminded to compare the name shown in the search results with the nurse’s photo ID.

If no results appear, either the name you entered is not a match for a registrant, or the nurse has not been licensed with the College in the last three years. Nurses who were licensed in the last three years but are not currently licensed will display as Inactive.

Contact the College if the exact name does not appear, or if you need to confirm past (historical) registration information.

It is each nurse’s responsibility to ensure their information is accurate. Nurses can update their information through the profile update located on the College’s Nurse Portal.

This service is provided to nurses and the public to verify the status of individual professionals. The information is not to be used for any commercial, marketing, or fundraising purposes.
